Nationwide Run Services is seeking a Manager to provide Operational and Strategic Leadership of our centralized Test Environment Management Projects and Test Data Management teams supporting the IT Enterprise. We proactively provide Test Environment (ST and above) and Test Data services to ensure test environments and secured test data are available for IT partners. We provide support for multiple large tier 1 and 2 programs along with multiple business segment application teams. We are an exciting area to work as we provide support across a number of technologies and work with teams supporting both legacy and distributed environments.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following:

  • 5+ years of proven experience effectively leading and managing teams in a service support, delivery and/or consulting environment

  • Experience with Supplier / Vendor Management including leveraging various supplier staffing models

  • Experience implementing or leading teams through implementation of automation to improve task throughput

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-­functional work across teams

  • Experience supporting large Program implementations (legacy modernization efforts)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills: ability to self-­prioritize tasks and manage multiple competing priorities

The ideal candidate will possess or have experience leading teams with the following technical skills:

• Linux, IHS, WAS (Websphere Application Server), Message Broker, Informatica ETL and Oracle

• Maven, ANT, Jenkins, Nexus, Shell Scripting

• CodeMove Plus, Urban Code, ChangeMan

• CICS, JCL and JCL utilities, VSAM, DB2, IMS, SQL, ESP, REXX

• GuideWire Policy Center Knowledge

• Oracle, Lua Scripting, MOD App, IBM OPTIM & IMS

  • Experience finding and effectively challenging talent and raising the capability level of a team

  • A solid understanding of ITIL concepts and processes. (ITIL v3 and/or advanced ITIL certifications are preferred)

  • The ability to educate technical teams and/or individuals on Nationwide’s best practices and/or processes

  • Day to day working with direct reports and continuing the Lean mindset as team norms

  • Experience with managing a million-plus operational budget, workforce planning, and staffing

  • Familiarity with information risk management and financial compliance best practices

  • Experience with ServiceNow for IT Service Management

Team Members perform the following activities:

Test Environment Management:

  • Build out of test environment path to production

  • Coordination of test environment provisioning

  • Coordination across interface / dependent applications

  • Execution of release configuration changes

  • Governance of Release Deployment in Test Environments

Test Data Management:

  • Coordination with Development and Test teams on test data requirements

  • Support Identification, masking, extraction, loading and replication of test data from production

  • Support the build out of test data regression suites

Summary: Manages a staff of infrastructure engineers involved in the analysis, design, development and implementation of hardware/software. Determines hardware/software systems requirements, leads systems hardware/software design, plans projects, establishes priorities and monitors progress. Evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness. May coordinate with other managers to integrate project with other systems hardware/software. Position is a first-level manager and has direct responsibility for people management. In addition to project deployment, responsibilities include career development, performance management, and pay determination and communication. Acts as a mentor to associates outside the immediate team.

Location: Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/AVP; responsible for direct management of 3 or more IT professionals.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages a staff that is responsible for the analysis, design, development and implementation of solutions, modifications, or enhancements to existing hardware/software applications or a suite of integrated systems for the company and/or a particular business unit. Identifies and defines new hardware/software technologies to fit specialized business needs and configurations.

  • Manages a staff responsible for the design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and implementation of hardware/software components, tools, and utilities including databases, middleware, and personal computer systems.

  • Manages all aspects of systems hardware/software engineering projects, which involve multiple disciplines and platforms and impact multiple business units or perhaps the entire company.

  • Manages the configuration management, vendor management, problem mitigation, change management, and critical situation management to systems as well as their multiple platforms and software applications.

  • Manages a staff responsible for the configuration/capacity planning, software product evaluation, systems performance analysis and optimizations for software/hardware systems.

  • Manages a staff that provides consultation and technical expertise to senior management on systems integration, compatibility, expandability, ease of use, and multiple platform issues as they relate to hardware/software.

  • Manages all activities associated with the planning of software/hardware product evaluations; develops and recommends technical strategies and solutions to senior management. Manages all activities relating to assessments of risk, cost, and return on investment scenarios and impact as well as potential compatibility issues with existing hardware/software.

  • Manages a staff responsible for the installation of hardware/software products by analyzing the current system environment, using technical tools and utilities, performing product customization, and developing implementation and verification procedures to ensure successful installation of systems hardware/software.

  • Manages a staff responsible for the design, development, testing, selection and implementation of new technical strategies, solutions, products and servers in relation to hardware/software operating systems and applications.

  • Manages long-term strategic planning activities for the development and implementation of hardware/software systems architecture and technical guidelines. Responsible for the selection, directions and performance of engineering activities and analysis studies. Collaborates with Architects to develop short and long term technology roadmaps.

  • Manages the currency of each environment through analysis and implementation of remediation plans.

  • Manages the solution improvements through optimization, enhancements, and implementation of new features and functions.

  • Develops and manages project budgets and deployment including the training and development of personnel.

  • Assists in the establishment and implementation of strategic policies, procedures, standards, systems requirements and controls to ensure that hardware, software and/or personal computer products support and comply with the overall information technology goals and initiatives.

  • Position is a first-level manager and has direct responsibility for people management. In addition to project deployment, responsibilities include career development, performance management, and pay determination and communication.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Typcial Skills and Experiences:Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is strongly preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Certification designation in Project Management or specific technology is strongly preferred.

Experience: Eight years of technical software and hardware analysis, programming and installation. Three years of management experience is preferred.

Knowledge: Proven knowledge in advanced operating and personal computer systems. Must have an in-depth understanding in multiple hardware and software platforms, products and applications. Proven knowledge in technical diagnostic and analytical tools. Demonstrated knowledge of project management concepts and techniques required. Must have familiarity of financial statement preparation, budgeting and financial analysis concepts and techniques. Thoroughly understands incident and problem management processes.Skills/Competencies: Must have the ability to manage a staff that analyzes systems that have multiple platforms, widespread impact and call for interpretation and coordination of highly technical and complex fields of information. Must have strong analytical and decision-making skills. Must possess interpersonal savvy and well-developed leadership ability. Must be able to perform financial and risk analysis on complex operating systems and platforms. Must have strong project as well as process management skills. Must possess negotiation skills. Must have strong oral and written communication skills to interact with all levels of personnel, senior management and vendors.
